Mia Catalfamo just turned 18
on February 13. She's a senior in high school but will be graduating
in May of '02.
For as long as she can remember,
Mia has always wanted a career in the television and film business.
From the time she was a little girl, she would always try to get in front
of the family video camera and would put on small productions for family
and friends. She used to write, direct, and act in those video camera
creations and would selffishly boss her younger sister around until they
were perfect.
Now 18, Mia has had some interesting
and wonderful experiences in her life. She's been to the sets of
'Homicide: Life on the Street', 'Young
Americans' and 'Dawson's Creek' where she has worked as an extra a
few times. (*Check out the candid pictures from the sets of 'Young
Americans' and 'Dawson's
Creek'*) She has also worked as an extra in the Keenu Reeves
movie, 'The Replacements' which was filmed in Baltimore in 2000.
In the past few years while visiting
the sets and locations of various television shows and movies, Mia has
been lucky enough to meet many celebrities. She's met the whole cast
of such shows as 'Homicide: Life on the Street', 'Young Americans' and
'Dawson's Creek' and also has met Sissy Spacek on the set of the upcoming
Disney movie, 'Tuck Everlasting.' While at an Oriole game a few years
ago, she ended up meeting director/actor Ron Howard [of 'Happy Days' fame]
and Pat Sajack of 'Wheel of Fortune.'
In the summer of 2001, Mia took a course at the
Broadcasting Institute of Maryland where she learned camera etiquette as
well as the secrets of editing and radio boradcasting and then in September
of 2001, Mia graduated from the [Harrisburg] Barbizon Modeling Agency where
she took 4 months worth of modeling and acting classes
In her spare time, Mia enjoys renting
movies and going to the movie theater. "People think I am such a
dork because of how much I love movies but I can't help it. There's
something about most films that bring out so many emotions inside of me
and I have been impacted by a lot of films in certain ways, which is a
reason as to why I want a career in the business."
Being cast in 'Jamie's Way' is her first real
acting job but she hopes it will broaden the horizon for her career.
She looks forward to one day making movies, whether as an actress, director,
or writer.
FAVORITES: *The list goes in no particular order*
ACTORS: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon (they are such
TALENTED writers as well), Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, and James Dean.
ACTRESSES: Sandra Bullock and Drew Barrymore
MOVIES: 'Rebel Without A Cause', 'Jaws', 'Halloween',
'Stand By Me', 'Rain Man', 'Field of Dreams', 'School Ties', 'Forrest Gump',
'Philadelphia', 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Good Will Hunting', 'Titanic',
'Armageddon', 'Pearl Harbor' and 'I Am Sam.' (I have MANY more favorite
movies but I won't bore you with them.)
TV SHOWS: 'Dawson's Creek', 'Everybody Loves Raymond',
and 'Friends'
MUSIC: I am a big fan of soundtracks so I'd
rather listen to music from a tv show or movie than to a lot of the stuff
out there today.
HOBBIES: I like going to the movies and renting
movies. (I LIVE for the movies!) I also like to hang out with my friends
and just have really high expectations for myself. Oh yeah, sleeping and
just eating all kinds of food is fun too.

| **I just want to thank my mom and dad for always being
there for me. If it weren't for the sacrifices you both have made
over the years and the things you have taught, I wouldn't be who I am.
I know I don't say it and show it often but I DO appreciate EVERYTHING
you've done for me and I love you guys soooo much. |
